Founded in 1979 by Peter Riebeek, Studio 150 first opened its doors at Lauriergracht 150, in the heart of Amsterdam’s Jordaan district. Over the years, the studio became known for its warm, creative atmosphere and cutting-edge facilities, attracting a diverse range of musicians from both the Netherlands and around the world. Featured in Dutch and international media alike, Studio 150 quickly gained a reputation as a premier destination for artists across all genres—from rock and jazz to classical and electronic music.
In 2000, Joeri Saal joined the Studio 150 team as a sound engineer and soon became a key figure in the studio’s evolution. His expertise played an essential role in shaping the sound and success of the many projects that passed through its doors, helping to further elevate the studio’s standing.
After more than three decades at Lauriergracht, Studio 150 embarked on a bold new chapter in 2015 with a relocation to the historic Bethlehemkerk in Amsterdam. This beautifully renovated church, originally built in 1924, with its soaring ceilings and magnificent acoustics, offered the perfect setting for the next generation of musicians. The move symbolized a fresh beginning while staying true to the studio’s legacy of innovation and creativity. The Bethlehemkerk’s unique architecture has since become a defining element of Studio 150’s identity, providing an unparalleled recording experience just one metro stop from Amsterdam Central Station.
