The Sam Newbould Quintet is an award winning ensemble based in Amsterdam. Drawing together influences from Radiohead, Wayne Shorter, English folk, and 20th Century classical music, their sound mixes emotive melodies, lush harmony and progressive rock energy.
The band won the prestigious Keep an Eye Records 2019 competition. Their debut album Blencathra was described as ‘a magnificent set that marks this a band to watch in 2020.’

The quintet’s upcoming album Bogus Notus takes listeners on a journey through the mysterious corners of the Northern English countryside. Merging folk melodicism with dark chords and heavy grooves, Bogus Notus spins together a joy of home mixed with the discomfort of being an outsider.
