‘The unconventional viola player and singer who makes intricate music sound simple.’

Roosmarijn is an experimental and melodic pop artist from Arnhem, the Netherlands. Her music transcends genres, blending the soulful intimacy of singer-songwriter traditions with the evocative depth of the viola, resulting in a unique sonic experience. She transforms spaces into experiences and has performed an impressive range of live shows, making stages in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Iceland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, and France her home.
Five years after the release of the EP "Inside Out," Roosmarijn's debut album, "Wide Open Space," will be released on 15-11-2024 via Backseat. For this album, she collaborated with artists such as Morris Kliphuis (KAPOK) and Sam Jones (LUWTEN, Benny Sings). Explore a richness of sounds, from creaking double bass to enchanting string arrangements, birdsong, and club-like synthesizers. Roosmarijn confidently leads her first album, which represents a personal emotional journey through different life stages and spaces. Inspired by the power and beauty of nature, Roosmarijn explores life in all its simplicity and complexity, with courageous adventures and a longing for the unknown, as reflected in her journey of learning, struggling, and growing, embodied in the title track "Wide Open Space." All these aspects come to life during expressive live performances, where she effortlessly operates a loop station alone, merging with the sounds of her viola, or delivers an expressive and layered show with her solid band consisting of Nathalie Schaap (double bass, vocals), Mees Siderius (drums), and Prashant Samlal (guitar).
